About me
I have been practicing kinesiology since 2001. I went for a kinesiology session in 2000, was fascinated and intrigued by the process and the results, and decided to do the TFH workshops “just for interest sake”. Well, one thing led to another, my whole life changed and I am now a full time kinesiologist and instructor. I have over 1000 workshop hours under my belt, and have studied the following schools of kinesiology: Neuro-Training, Touch for Health, Three-in-One Concepts, Neural Organization Techniques, Professional Kinesiology Practice, Kinesiology Centre Natal, Integrated Healing and am continually updating my knowledge by attending new workshops and updates. I did instructor training in Nutritional Alternatives workshop in Australia last year, and will be visiting Australia again in March 2012 to train for Effective Iridology. I have family in Canberra so it works for me to visit my twin sister and bring back some new courses to South Africa.
I am registered with the Association of Specialised Kinesiologists South Africa (ASKSA) as a Professional Specialised Kinesiologist.
I have been an active member of the ASKSA since 2001, serving on the National Committee as secretary, treasurer and chairperson for the Gauteng branch. I decided in 2008 to take a break from committee work though I still serve on the committee for the Hurlingham Manor residents’ association.
I bought a farm in the Mpumalanga highlands in 2009 and try to spend a week a month there. I have a growing herd of 20 alpacas, with 7 babies (cria) due in March. I have planted pecans, chestnuts and pomegranates orchards. I also planted a small mixed fruit orchards for the house and have an organic veggie garden going. I am slowly converting to more green power on the farm. My hope is one day to be completely self-sustaining. I did a spinning course last year (the fibre kind, not bicycle!) and am trying to find more time to produce my own yarn. In the meantime I have had my fibre professionally spun, and have limited quantities of double knitting 100% alpaca wool for sale. I am busy having a wind turbine installed to supplement Eskom supply. I am currently working with my neighbours and the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Board to get the area around the farm declared a Protected Environment.
My other passion is travel. You can see some photos from my recent trips on the photo page. Last year I did a trip on the Trans-Siberian express from Beijing to St. Petersburg. For 11.11.11 I did trip to Mexico and Guatemala to see the Mayan temples. Apart from my instructor training to Australia this year, I am attending the World Alpaca Conference in Oxford, England in April. I took my parents on a nostalgic trip to the Eastern Cape in February (drove over 4000 km!) to visit family and their old childhood homes and schools in the small towns and villages around the Hogsback. I’m planning on squeezing in a trip to the Hilton Festival in September, and who knows what else may crop up…
I read a lot (love my Kindle). I like to keep up with current affairs and events. I recently started bridge lessons which I am thoroughly enjoying. I have to admit that I watch reality TV. I go to the gym just enough to keep my membership going. I love to knit and sew, but just don’t have enough time to do enough of that. If I had a wish, it would be for more hours in the day to do all the things I would like to do!
